The Book of Enoch the Prophet Richard Laurence

The Book of Enoch also known as 1 Enoch, is an ancient Jewish religious work or a sacred text ascribed by tradition to Enoch, the great-grandfather of Noah. The Book of Enoch is not part of the biblical canon as used by Jews, apart from Beta Israel. Most Christian denominations and traditions accept the Book of Enoch as having some historical or theological interest or significance, but most Christian denominations and traditions also generally regard the Book of Enoch as non-canonical or non-inspired, and thus is not considered part of Christian theology but rather is considered wisdom literature and used more as a bible study & reference tool. The Book of Enoch is however regarded as canonical by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church, but not by any other Christian group. Richard Laurence was an English Hebraist and Anglican churchman. He was made Regius Professor of Hebrew and canon of Christ Church, Oxford, in 1814, and Archbishop of Cashel, Ireland, in 1822. Richard Laurence's work is considered by many to be wisdom literature and much of his work is used as bible study & reference tools.
