The Call of The Wild
Jack London
Classic novel, The Call of the Wild, written by literature & fiction iconic author Jack London is a short story action & adventure novel that was originally published in 1903 and set in Yukon, Canada during the 1890's Klondike Gold Rush, when strong sled dogs were in high demand. The central character of the classic novel is a dog named Buck. Buck is stolen from his home and sold into service as a sled dog in Alaska. Buck progressively reverts to a wild state in the harsh climate, where he is forced to fight to dominate other dogs. By the end of the action & adventure, he sheds the veneer of civilization and relies on primordial instinct and learned experience to emerge as a leader in the wild. Jack London was a literature & fiction American novelist, journalist, and social activist. He was a pioneer in the then burgeoning world of commercial magazine fiction. Jack London was one of the first fiction writers to obtain worldwide celebrity and a large fortune from his novels. Jack London's The Call of the Wild was published more than a century ago and the short story action & adventure still remains a best selling literature & fiction classic.
