Making it through a day at a time was all Michael Finch could hope for. Life was so different now without his wife by his side. Tragically taken from him a year ago, her death cast a shadow over the whole town of Blackfield. He had lost his own mother and his wife in the space of two years. Tom, Connor's cop father-in-law, keeps his overprotective eyes on the boys and it keeps him close to Ruth, the woman he loves from afar. Michael has to learn to admit that his marriage wasn't perfect when his wife died. Connor has to admit that his secret is wrecking him.
