Linda Maria MacAurthur is not a bold woman. She is always the quiet one at the lab, working through her tasks with a practiced but solitary efficiency. After work, she is something else entirely. Something neither her boss, nor her parents, nor her childhood friends know about. At night she is a derby girl, bumping and colliding and skating with the strongest players in the tri-city area. Long Shot Lindsey is her derby name and it is all too appropriate. Roller derby is a rough and tumble sport, and her tiny frame seems to give her no chance at all. But embracing the bold, confident side of herself, Lindsey finds she can't stay away. While disguised at a co-ed scrimmage, she runs into Garrett Ross, the captain of the co-ed North Crest Violent Volunteers. As passionate about the sport as Lindsey is, it isn't long before she finds herself on a date with him. There's just one problem: Co-ed derby is forbidden. She can't risk Garret finding out who she truly is, nor her team finding out she's been playing co-ed. Left balancing this new and ever-deepening game of passions and lies, Long Shot Lindsey finds herself torn between her growing feelings for Garrett, and her loyalty to the derby team that empowered her to break out from the mousey, quiet woman she'd grown to hate.
