Cosmic Tumbleweeds

My cosmic mentor, Dr. Dale B. Barlow, the international director of "Flying Saucer's Anonymous" (SAUCE-ANON for short), was once again behind the wheel of his great American land-shark; a 1968 Pontiac Bonneville convertible, in urgent need of a paint job, with the cubic horsepower of a roaring lion. The vehicle's cavernous trunk (which is the size of Washtucna) was chocked-full of various and sundry fishing gear, grub-stake, legal documents, copious quantities of Coors Lite, prescription drugs and dangerous weapons (or was that dangerous drugs and prescription weapons). Either way, the weapons at least, were properly licensed and fully legal in the state of Idaho, just in case we made it that far. All this, and much more, screaming eastward on I-90 through the desert, straight into the hardened-heart of the innocence of man, on another ill-prepared quest for whatever 'truth' there is out there, or in lieu of that, an impromptu scavenger hunt for any cheap facsimile thereof.
