Daniel Mania is the new Interior Department Secretary who is about to discover how horribly wrong things can become in a short time. Within a few weeks, he discovers that his predecessor was murdered, conspirators are plotting to release a deadly virus to exterminate Indians on the Zuni reservation, and several people are mysteriously murdered on the Zuni reservation. In the midst of all this, a Zuni elder tells him that he, Daniel, is to be the new guardian of the Treasure of Zuni, a sacred lifetime task. However, things get even more complicated when Daniel is forced to flee for his life to escape professional assassins who want to silence him.
