William Mayfield is born in 1509 in the sheep country of Northern England. As he grows he realizes he is different than anyone else around him. On a fateful day in a cathedral in York he meets a man who tells him just how different he is. He does not pass through time as other men do. He stands still and time passes through him. He has lived through the reign of Henry VIII, Henry's son Edward and his daughters Mary and Elizabeth and he is quite sure it is only the beginning for him. His life intersects with murderers, despots, angels and demons. Stabbed, frozen and starved he has no scar or blemish. He loves, loses and loves again seldom sharing the nature of his eternal youth and it is not the only secret he keeps.
