Born in a fishing settlement in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria in West Africa, Amaka, whose mother died in the hands of local midwives a few minutes after her birth, did not enjoy the love of her own mother. But her grandmother raised her and loved her all the same. Her growing up was challenging in all ramifications: serving as a house help, starting primary school education when she was very much past the age, working as a hired hand in farms just to raise money to fund her education, etc. Trusting God, Amaka forged her way through life. At the end her testimony demonstrated the power of God over those who first of all completely yield to Him despite their troubles, and still go ahead to pursue their dreams with a strong determination to make it in the end. Fate smiled at Amaka in the end, but not before life dealt several blows on her in what could best be described as a life of struggle. This book will make an interesting reading for people of all backgrounds, ages and cultures and will particularly be of benefit to students of African History and related courses. Once started, this book cannot be put down until finished!
