The town of Piccolo is special. Thanks to a boy named Anthony the townsfolk never have to worry about the dark. He's a painter that climbs a long ladder every day before dusk to make sure the town's sky stays light. When the last of his paint buckets plummet to the ground the danger of the approaching nighttime petrifies everyone. He rushes to correct his mistake, hoping to stave off the dark. It's a race against time that ultimately leads to an appreciation of the natural beauty of the night sky.
