Mazie Cornwall wakes not knowing where she is and worse not knowing who she is. Everything in her room is labeled that can't be a good sign; this must either be a hospital or a nursery school, probably a hospital that makes the most sense. Mazie is blinking in and out of consciousness; when she wakes in the sunlight the nice nurse Sally Ann is there. When Mazie wakes in the lamplight she feels the warm strong fingers of the physical therapist massaging her back to life.
