"Behind the Teacher's Desk" by Chris Williams is the first book I've read from this author, and it was fantastic. Right away it felt different than the normal kind of book I read---- In fact, I'd have kind of a hard time categorizing it exactly as there are so many elements involved. I have never read another book where the heroine was a teacher-at least not where her work was any sort of focus, and I must say I liked it. I think it's so easy to take for granted what teachers do day in and day out. This novel shows us just what a jungle it can be, from out of control and even violent kids, crazy colleagues, and heartbreaking realities of her students' lives. Throw in some romance drama of her own and it's a wild ride from start to finish! I loved reading it and will definitely be reading more from Chris Williams. (5 stars)
