The Resident

The Resident is the story of a New York city native who, after medical school, finds himself in a small Iowa psychiatric hospital as an intern. The hospital chief is Dr. Dorian Delecti, a bitter failed physician and a merciless tyrant to the staff. His favorite victim is the social worker, Doris Cloup who is defenseless against him, something the resident is determined to remedy. A crisis occurs, however, when a medical error puts a patient at risk. As this is investigated, Dr. Delecti will do anything to save his own skin. The Resident is a comic novel dealing with serious topics. It is a story of complex human relationships and of the profound transformation that occurs when a medical student becomes a resident. All profits from sales of this book will be donated to a scholarship fund at the Bowling Green Campus of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.
