After a well-organized gang of stage coach robbers headed by an enigmatic leader kills three innocent men and kidnaps a young boy, a hardened Wells Fargo man, who shares a past with the gang's boss, escorts the boy's aunt and uncle on a mission to rescue their nephew. The surprising series of events that follow force the boy, torn between a familiar past an an uncertain future, to learn to survive in a strange and hostile world as he struggles to leave his childhood behind and become a man.
