Parents devote their lives toward raising their children to be wonderful adults, hopefully better people than we have been. There's some old saying, I'm not sure what it is exactly, but it basically says that children must make their own mistakes, and that a parent's advice can't save the child from the heartache of the bad choices they will make; it's assumed that you MUST make these bad choices, to learn these hard lessons yourself. I hope that isn't true, and that some heartache can be avoided. This book says many of the things I can't, or haven't, said to you myself. I guess I don't want to come off as preaching to you, or nagging, or making you think that I don't trust your good judgement. "Judgement" is most often based on experience, and as parents, we have more of that. I want you to at least listen to this advice, and incorporate that advice into your decision making. Often a parent's advice can be dismissed, you know the old saying, going in one ear and out the other. But this book relies on real expertise, decades of study, and decades of experience, and should be given some "weight" as to these opinions. That's it.
