Suppose that instead of the universe you think you know there are actually an infinite number of alternative universes - a multiverse; a place and time where each one exists simultaneously, but unique and invisible to the others? In one of those realities your eyes might be blue. In another they could be green. In a third you might be eight feet tall and hail from the planet Frunobulax. It is impossible to predict. The inscrutable universe offers an infinite number of adaptations where each one will be, must be, unique. Dallas Albright, the beautiful boy, has recurring dreams where he visits these iterative worlds, each time experiencing a new and different version of his own life. This particular Lucky Life tells the story of Dallas Albright and his kin; four generations of honest, hardworking Iowans who have unintentionally left their heavy fingerprints all over the boy's back. Like water in a stream, Dallas' reaction has been to seek the simplest path, drifting indifferent to his promise and potential, indefensibly confident that whatever path he chooses is the path meant to be. This remarkable and highly dubious point of view will not be his best bet in a small town like Freeland, Iowa.
