In 1953 Donald John Trump was 7 years old. We know very little about his time in primary school apart from the fact that he was expelled from school when he was 13 years old. This inspired Bernd Köhnen to dive into Donald Trump's past. He wanted to find out if during this period the foundation was laid for his behavior during his adult life. During his research the author came to the most astonishing discoveries and gained an amazing insight into Donnie Trump's way of thinking and his motivations from a very young age. A few examples: His future opponents: Until now, no one knew that not only Hillary Rodham, but also Bernie Sanders and Barack Obama went to the same primary school. And even little Billy Gates was there! They weren't all-in the same class, but nevertheless, they saw each other on a daily basis. This means Donnie knew their strengths and weaknesses and could make use of that knowledge during his campaign. This as yet unknown fact is probably the most revealing component of the book. Donnie loves Donnie: Donnie's audacious, big-headed, bold, bombastic, bragging, brash, chesty, condescending, disdainful, haughty, immodest, insolent, patronizing, pompous, presumptuous, scornful, self-important, snooty, superior, toffee-nosed and vain character can be attributed to his German-Scottish immigrant background. The humourless Germans and the thrifty Scottish proved to be a fertile basis for this boy from Queens. Being a businessman, his father was too busy to notice what his son was turning into. He gave money instead of love. Donnie doesn't like strangers: Strangers, tresspassers, intruders; Donnie met a lot of them in school. They stole his lunch money and broke through his truly amazing and fantastic walls he was building every day (every day folks!) in the school's sandpit. This made him truly weary of - and sometimes even hating- strangers. He even banished "Strangers in the night" from Spotify and had it replaced by "I did it my way" In "Donnie Trump runs for Class President" Bernd Köhnen has managed to turn all this research material into a compelling page turner. An exciting must-read for children as well as adults. Unputdownable!
