The unparalleled success of Sun City, the nation's first active adult community, led the Del Webb Corporation to begin a new, master-planned community in 1978. In less than 20 years, 31,000 people over the age of 55 had come from the 50 states, Canada and other countries to make Sun City West their home. This book chronicles the first 25 years of Sun City West. It draws on the personal experience of those who moved here, as well as public records of the many events that shaped the new community as it transitioned from "Lizard Acres" to the lush oasis it is today.
