Eric Flynn is the sheriff of Brunswick County, North Carolina. He has maintained the peace, from his office in the beautiful coastal town of Southport, for over ten years. The local hangout is the downtown Southport Cafe, home to cook Harriet's famous southern biscuits. Anne White, part owner with Harriet, runs the cafe where Sheriff Flynn is a regular customer and has an interest in Anne as well as the cafe's biscuits. Things are normal until the sheriff's son, Peter and his best friend Billy, find a mysterious object in the river next to the nuclear power plant. Dragging the object from the water, they are shocked that a body floats to the surface. The sheriff knows it's murder, the first in Southport in over twenty years. Things only get worst when the boys are kidnapped by men looking for the mysterious object. Sheriff Flynn knows the guilty party when he see a southern biscuit from the cafe when he rescues the boys.
