The Casting of Wendy Holcomb
Arlene Rains Graber
Does the opportunity of a Broadway career, trump motherhood and husband demands? Wendy Holcomb is a happily married mother of a college age daughter, and enjoys a comfortable life living in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, when her career begins to create numerous problems in her otherwise well-ordered life. The question is: will she shun domesticity and family life for a chance on Broadway, or walk away from the opportunity of a lifetime? All her life Wendy has dreamed of an acting career. Now after two years of hard study with private coaching, theater classes, and numerous bit parts, her break comes. Her exhilaration is dampened by complaints and protests from her daughter and husband who resent having a part-time mom and wife. Amidst it all, a family crisis further complicates matters to where she must choose.
