Looking in on Jane Austen's book, Pride & Prejudice, we could feel like Elizabeth Bennet did about her parents - she could see many things lacking in their relationship. We can almost hear her exclaim, "How did those two ever fall in love?" She respected her father and had a close bond with him, but all she had ever heard was that he was captivated by youth and beauty, and even that was said with some sarcasm. Surely there was more to the story than what youthful naiveté had caused her to think. For Elizabeth Darcy, who is now caring for her aged father, the desire to know that story moves her to ask him to relate it while there is still time. What she learns proves to be filled with one surprise after another! Most of all it, however, it proves to be an unexpected gift for herself and her dear papa.
