As a child her grandfather, Miles Drake, had told Erin many wonderful and exciting stories of a medieval norse world. As an adult many years later Erin learned the 'stories' were all true, were, in fact, her grandfather's adventures on a distant medieval world. In a separate will and testament her grandfather shared how he came to travel the world tree, the link between the many worlds. A fascinated Erin followed his instructions - - and nothing happened. Finally, after a number of tries Erin realized what worked for her grandfather didn't work for her, or, for that matter, anyone else. Five years later, while walking in the Smokies one fine fall afternoon, under very odd circumstances Erin was offered a different path onto the tree. The new path was shadowy and most likely had a hidden steep price tag. Erin, though she longed to travel the tree, decided against it. Several years later, under desperate circumstances, with all hope gone and facing a miserable death, Erin accepted the strange dark offer of that memorable long ago afternoon. This book is her story.
