Diagnosed as what the church believed to be mentally ill, Carlos Steffani was administered to the Ospedale di Santa Maria Nuova (Hospital of Santa Maria Nuova) in Valencia, sometime in the mid-1400s. During his life, Steffani observed the world around him through the eyes of a philosopher centuries beyond his time and understood the true meaning of success. Knowing that his life's writings and journals were more than just empty words inscribed by the mind of an ill man, he hid them before his untimely death. What has been translated from the Catalan language and resurrected in these pages herein, though sometimes cryptic in style, will forever change the thinking of reader and decipherer.
