Paul-Gerhard Tittel was just an adolescent when the horrors of World War II ravaged his home. The subsequent Soviet occupation of East Germany only added a new kind of brutality to everyday life. Tittel was determined to escape, but he was only sixteen. Could he really find a way out of Soviet control?



As Tittel tells the story of his own journey into the light, he also looks back at two relatives who had equally trying lives. One was gravely injured during World War I. The other was sent to a Siberian prison camp for five years. In both cases, the men had no idea whether they would survive their ordeals. The only thing that kept any of them going was God's grace.



That grace was what lit the way home for these three brave individuals. Tittel uses their combined stories to show you the power of God's love and compassion. In even the darkest of circumstances, God will be right by your side!
