Leaving Home
Richard Dixon
A book of poems autobiographical in nature, of a young boy dealing with a dysfunctional, drug-addicted mother while being nurtured by her Polish Catholic parents, brothers and sisters, and growing up in that school and church, at 10 being yanked up by his father and, along with his sister, brought to Oklahoma. The next five years spent locked up in a garage, constantly running away until he decided he wasn't returning, spending months in juvenile detention before moving to a foster home and dairy farm, and a way of life a polar opposite of what he had previously experienced.
