Mining Natures Treasures with Jim and Dave
Jim Mellos
Fluorite forms in the cracks because around 200 million years ago super heated brine water containing the mineral fluorine was forced up from deep within the earth where it came into contact with calcium rich limestone bedrock and squeezed into the cracks where the crystals formed. The idea was to look for cracks in the walls and try to follow them hoping they turn into a rare pocket which in this case is a 1 inch wide crack becomes a 1 foot wide crack. Follow Dave and I on our first wild and fun adventure while mining for natures treasures. .
