The Hunger
Dave Atwell
Thomas Hutton, a grower from coastal North Carolina and Civil War veteran, travels west with his family with hopes of a new start. Wanting to leave behind both the memory and misery of war and reconstruction, Hutton sold everything he had, save a pair of oxen, two horses and a wagon full of supplies. Hutton, with his wife and five children, began the long journey to Montana, via the Bozeman Trail. Montana held the promise of gold and the possibility of a new beginning growing crops. When they reach Wyoming Territory, however, they begin to experience much more trouble than expected. Hope turns quickly into survival instinct as the Huttons are faced with outlaws, Native American-hunting militiamen, and worst of all, The Hunger. As The Hunger sweeps like fire through the frontier, the settlers are faced with decisions of life, death, and morality as they make their way through an uncertain future.
