The present work is addressed to physicians, residents, electrocardiogram technicians, students and nurses. Through seven chapters, the anatomy and physiology of the heart is explained methodologically and didactically. Chapter 3 shows the electrocardiographic alterations that appear in the cardiovascular affections when comparing them with the normal patterns of electrocardiograms. Chapter 7 is dedicated to the electrocardiogram of the child's most frequent pathologies (major congenital heart disease). Continuous monitoring of the patient using automated systems that detect electrocardiographic alterations is a development that must be complemented by the knowledge of electrocardiography in order to achieve a correct interpretation of the phenomenon being analyzed. The manual reading of electrocardiograms still has a significant weight for diagnosis in places where sophisticated equipment is not available. In summary, the text is a guide to the anatomy and physiology of the heart, explained in a didactic way, as well as the clinical interpretation of the electrocardiogram waves, which lead us to the diagnosis of different pathologies.
