Sophie Reiter's summer isn't going well, which really isn't surprising since her first two years of high school haven't been exactly sunshine and roses. Now her family's July 4th reunion looms forebodingly before her full of noise, pesky cousins, and her obnoxious brother. To top it all off Aunt Sophia, the one person who has always made these reunions enjoyable won't be there. Sadly, Aunt Sophia passed away last fall. Sophie had always been able to talk to Aunt Sophia about anything, and her bond with her great aunt had been inseverable despite the two generations that separated them. At this summer's reunion however, Sophie will discover that even death can't separate them, because Aunt Sophia has a story yet to tell from beyond the grave. A story about a catastrophic storm that forever altered the lives of Aunt Sophia's family, the citizens of Galveston, and the people of Texas.
