Killing the Deity
G H Henty
It is around 1450 B. C. and the Egyptians have conquered the Rebu country. Young Prince Amuba and his faithful charioteer, Jethro, have been taken captive after his father, the King, had been killed in battle. Now in Thebes, Amuba becomes the servant and confidante to Chebron, the son of Ameres, high priest of Osiris. The new friends discover evidence of a murderous conspiracy within the ranks of the priesthood. But, the accidental death of a sacred cat forces them to flee for their lives before the heinous crimes can be prevented. With Jethro as their trustful guide and protector, the boys make courageous plans to escape from Egyptian territory and return to Amuba's homeland.
