They have been battered and marginalised. They live like second class citizens in their own country. In their anger, they try to break away from the zoo contraption. The central government holds them down which led to the civil war. In the war, the central government went all out to cleanse the ethnic group in a genocide which the world refused to recognise today. After the war, the marginalisation continued but fear of the effects of the first civil war, they refused to speak against the central government. Who will bail the cat? Not long after that, there came a great intelligent bear, who stood for the rights of his people, the kingdom of Ikuku to demand for a referendum. He was tortured, but they failed to understand the changing times. They thought they still lived in 1967. On the Hills of Freedom is a story of an ethnic group in the Animal kingdom of Kazanga who fought their way to freedom out of the zoo contraption.
