Lilikoi the Lava-Walker is the story of a young Hawaiian child who attempts to tame the ocean. During her fearsome adventure, she meets many strange ocean creatures, some who are curious and fun and some who are dangerous. Lilikoi learns to respect nature and to love her unique abilities. This book introduces children to Hawaiian words and phrases. It also features an intersex child, and is a great tool for normalizing non-typical gender.
