Why should we care about history? Repeatedly through Scripture we are told to remember. Remember that all the way the Lord thy God has led you. Remember your leaders. Do this in remembrance of Me. The Hebrews were told to erect stones as a remembrance of their safe passage to the promised land and then were told to tell their children and their children's children what the Lord had done for them. There is a purpose in remembering our shared history. There are lessons to be gained. The old adage is true: You can't know where you are going if you don't know where you have been.
