Scale 1:900.000. These two countries, forming a buffer region between Thailand and Vietnam, have put aside their troubled background and embraced tourism. There is a new railway line from Bangkok north to Vientiane, the capital of Laos, and road improvements are steadily making the country more accessible for locals as well as visitors. New inset maps of Vientiane and Luang Prabang have been added.
The Cambodia side consists of new artwork bringing the gradually-improving road network up to date and relates the border areas with newly-opened crossings into Laos and Vietnam (there is still only one international crossing into Thailand). This side includes two inset maps; one of Phnom Penh, the capital, and one of the Angkor Wat temple complex near Siem Riep in the western part of the country. Angkor is truly one of the world's marvels and a 'must see' destination, but all of Cambodia is lovely, so well-worth a visit.
