After their return to Lloydsboro Valley, Kentucky, from Warwick Hall in Washington D. C., the Little Colonel and friends Kitty Walton and Betty Lewis find that the young boys they have grown up with have matured into graceful young men. The Little Colonel struggles between her desire to still be a child and her desire to live the life of a sophisticated young woman.
