Wilma desires nothing more in her life than to be a veterinarian and open her own animal clinic, and she usually gets her way. As a child, Wilma is a temperamental, headstrong and aggressive tomboy from the Eastern Kentucky Appalachian Mountains. Wilma's unpretentious ways make her unaware of her own beauty. Wilma grows into an assertive young lady who knows how to achieve her goals -- usually through intimidation and manipulation. One day, she meets someone who is not so easily intimidated. She thinks the young man is a farm hand, but soon discovers Steve Dawson a Lexington, Kentucky doctor. His good looks and personality leave her unnerved, and she finds herself quickly falling in love. Steve is just as stunned as 'Willie' to find that there is such a thing as love at first sight. Willie dares to believe she can have it all -- love and a career. Then her intrepid personality is tested when she is kidnapped by a powerful mafia boss who is determined to bend her will and have her completely submissive to his maniacal obsession. She exploits her beauty to save her life. Will she be reunited with Steve after such an ordeal? Author Tonia Hopson lives in a small town in Eastern Kentucky. She has worked as an elementary and middle school teacher, served as an elementary principal, and now works with her school district as an instructional supervisor. Daisies to Roses is a follow-up to her book, Coal Dust to Stardust.
