In 101 Adventures in the Southern Sierra, Don Anderson takes the reader beyond a typical trail guidebook. With over forty years experience, Don provides colorful anecdotal stories of hikes, backpacking trips, river rafting and even wilderness caves. During the past decade photographer Stephen Bohr Jr. has been a constant companion, providing over half of the 200-plus pictures that enrich this book.

"I decided to divide this book into three parts, with an individual chapter for each adventure. The first section contains my favorite day hikes and, although they start in the foothills, is in no particular order. Backpacking trips constitute Part 2, and I tried to put them in chronological sequence. The third section is for miscellaneous trips. This includes snowshoeing or cross-country skiing, whitewater rafting, wilderness caves and camping. I hope those who read this book will enjoy it at least half as much as I did in writing it." The author, Don Anderson has spent over 40 years exploring the Sierra Nevada. An adjunct professor of history at Fresno State University, he is also the author of "Whitewater Journals."

The photographer, Stephen Bohr Jr., has spent the last 10 years exploring and photographing the Sierra Nevada mountains and beyond.
