Shuffled between two different homes since birth, a young and innocent African American boy eventually loses not only a sense of acceptance and belonging but undergoes a significant identity crisis as he is torn between the love and loyalty of his biological family and his new Caucasian family.

In his memoir, Bryan Dixon shares his story of lost and rediscovered identity through love and Christianity. This compelling and true story chronicles the effects that a miracle child had on two very dissimilar mothers and families. Driven by various anecdotes from his childhood, the memoir reveals how emotional and physical trauma in a child's life can result in searing grief and a lifetime of insecurities. Longing For Identity In A Black And White World seeks to reclaim the false narrative that one's story is only permissible if it involves a childhood of intense physical misery. Although often correlated with physical trauma, Dixon's story adheres to the emotional and spiritual pain that is ever present in an individual who experiences a childhood of confusion and instability.
Bryan Dixon is a well cultured writer. A United States Army Veteran and former missionary, Bryan has served in eight different countries. While serving in Panama, Bryan met fellow missionary Eileen Thorsen. They married five years later and now have five beautiful children together. Bryan holds a Master of Arts in Ministry. Bryan's experiences inspired him to pursue a career in international relations. However, he recently left his safe corporate career behind in pursuit of his lifelong passion--inspirational writing. When he isn't writing, you might find him taking family trips or running around at the park with his children.
