While spiritual complacency leading to apathy may not be unique to modern Christianity, it is viewed in Scripture as a serious problem that must be addressed in every generation. Matthew spoke of this spiritual lethargy in his gospel account. Paul warned about a great falling away in his second letter to the Thessalonians. Jesus cautioned believers against the dangers of indifference in His letters to the seven churches. Even a cursory look at the history of Israel reveals the cycle of returning and living for God, only to fall away again.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Following a dramatic conversion in 1999, Susan had a deep hunger for Scripture and more of Jesus. Finding she had a passion for teaching truth, she has taught Sunday school ever since. She has a strong desire to share the need for the Church to return to Jesus.

She and her husband, Eric, serve in the Nazarene Church in Montgomery, AL. where he is the pastor. They reside in Millbrook, Alabama. They are the proud parents of three adult children, and are blessed with one grandson.
