Warren has always been a bit of a cautionary tale to the younger children. But, he's an omen for the adults. Beth has only seen him a handful of times in her life. He is the monster that lives deep within the neighboring forest, the Nava Gadia. He only emerges once a year, with an order: that a few are to be selected to enter the forest to search for a magical object that's been missing for decades. These draftees have a week to find this magical object, or they'll face a sudden, hunted, death. As Beth delves into the forest, she meets Thea T. Hayes, and the two quickly form a bond where they hold each other's lives in their hands. The pair continue to try and find a way to survive the forest when they instead uncover a forgotten history and a forgotten legend. Beth will have to face her fears and the things she's always been running from or die.
