Chloe is a widower and the mother to two growing children. In desperate need of help, she hires Alex, a ranch hand who is between jobs. Though he is attracted to her, he feels he must protect her from himself. That is, until Maria comes along and opens his eyes to who and what he really is.

Maria is a well-traveled woman who just started work at the salon of one of Chloe's longtime friends, where she meets Chloe and, eventually, Alex. Together, can they convince Chloe to help their species survive, or will Alex die in the process, leaving behind Maria and Chloe and her two children?
