A newly married Marine Lieutenant is sent into combat at the height of the Vietnam War. From December 1966 until January 1968 he comes of age while experiencing the tragedy of war, personal losses, as well as leadership challenges. Thirteen Months takes the reader on a month-by-month journey through the struggles, disappointments, longings and emotions of a young warrior. This true story chronicles a pivotal time in U. S. History, while providing an extremely personal insight into the mind and heart of the main character, the Lieutenant. During his tour of duty at the Demilitarized Zone, he grows increasingly despondent at the incredibly high death rate, the gruesome realities of battle, the handling of the war by politicians, and his own descent into PTSD. Thirteen Months captures the gritty reality of an infantry Marine as he lives through the drudgery of a wartime culture during the Vietnam era.
