The author believes that the Founding Fathers were not perfect, and while they wrote a brilliant document for their times, they recognized during their deliberations and debates the need for compromise and the limitations of their efforts. The constitutional democracy of the United States has been severely challenged in recent times. The constitution is in dire need of revision in order to improve the original form of government created in 1787, to preserve the republic for future generations, to "form a more perfect Union."
