Lydia Fletcher is shy. No doubting it. Hence the nickname "Liddy Mouse" that her classmates have tacked on to her. Lydia is struggling with her shyness and the fact that her only real friend, her older sister, has gone off to college, when some of her fellow students play a little trick on her. It is all just a harmless prank but puts Lydia in a dangerous situation where she has to do things that are very hard for her to save her teacher's life and possibly even her own.
