On a personal journey, Daniel decides to teach at an international high school in Guatemala, Central America. Daniel becomes a minor celebrity in Guatemala because of his association with the ruling oligarchy and the criminal elite, which he finds are intimately intertwined. After a few years of selling the SAT admission exam, he finds himself in a dangerous web of deceit with a Palestinian terrorist group who buys the SAT, through a young American school student, Alena Anwar.
