During the 1990s, the rural town of Cape Cove, Indiana, is the average heartland community with a small industrial area and a good portion of farmland surrounding the town proper. It's a quiet place, populated by friendly neighbors who know each other and each other's business. People in this small town have a way of finding their own enjoyment, and it's usually on "the up and up." The peace can't last forever, though. A few kids unsatisfied with the boring diversions of Cape Cove deviate from the everyday and discover that their quaint little town hides its fair share of dark secrets. Very few had an inkling of this until the summer of 1997 when a mysterious book called the Liber Malificous arrives in town and shines light on secrets that should have remained hidden. For fans of Harry Potter and Stranger Things, follow a close-knit group of friends as they encounter characters from fantasy and horror in small-town Indiana ... and nobody has a cell phone.
