New Mexico firefighter and former Naval Intelligence Officer Rye Kelleher is hunting his wife's killers. He captures one of them, Nam Sol, and forces him to confess what he knows about his accomplice, Thrace Sidion. Sol, a physicist, claims to have uncovered a rip in time. Sol passed through that rip to a Canadian prison in the future and unintentionally brought back the psychotic killer Thrace. Desperate for revenge, Rye follows Sol's rip to find Thrace, but in doing so, opens a doorway for half the prison. The inmates escape to the present. The prison held the flawed output from the future's designer genetics program-they're flawed but not dumb. Thrace is an unparalleled genius and thinks that he can master Sol's technology to weave through time. Rye races to find Thrace before he-or anyone he thought he could trust-can test Thrace's prototype. In a rage, Rye opened the door. For humanity's sake, he better close it fast.
