"Cryptography for Network Engineers and Architects" is a book that assumes you have a fair amount of knowledge of modern IP networks and are looking to discover more about cryptography and how it can be used to make your network more secure. It will not discuss the basics of networking like IP addressing or the OSI model but assume you know about these already. Key points: IPv6 and IPv4 are both discussed since they can sometimes be quite different. Only network protocols are discussed i.e. protocols needed for your network to function. Protocols like DNS and FTP are not really required for your network to function and so are not discussed. Certain protocols like IPSec and HTTPS may not be inherent to how your network functions but are used by the network to enhance its security. No proprietary protocols, just standards where possible. All network protocols are discussed from a cryptographic perspective and no other perspective. This will stop this book being bogged down in the functionality of that protocol e.g. BGP, since an exhaustive discussion of this protocol would easily fill a whole book. Recent advances in this subject are discussed like: MACSec, BGPSec, NSA CSNA and Quantum computing.
