In A Pickle

Zimbabwe and South Africa were the last bastions of colonialism on the African continent, and that was linked to the resources in those countries. The writer, who has lived in both counties, is looking at the journey that has been traveled since independence in 1980, for Zimbabwe and 1994 for South Africa. He is looking at the position then and now, with a narration of what has transpired, and the focus is on the leadership. The journey has been tortuous for many in Zimbabwe with the downturn in the economy and an inflation rate that at one time spun completely out of control. There are lessons for South Africa, especially on how not to do some things.
