Alys wakes from her virtual reality to find the previous watchman gone. She is alone on the Great Ship New London - the first colony ship bound for Majellan, the only habitable world found so far, and she doesn't like what she finds. Thus begins her weird and twisted journey through the hostile, mutated and broken new world with her replicant lover Ruge. There she befriends a cyborg digger, a paranoid train and an armoured clone. All the while trying to solve the mystery of what has gone wrong with the terraformed world and how to save the colonists from their own dark selves.
