The global economy, a phrase that conjures up an image of a "one world." What is this phenomenon and how does it work? This is not the sum of all national economies but the interchanges between them. National economies fill fixed places, the global economy fills in the spaces between them. I use personal experiences, tales if you will, from over 50 years working in the global economy describe the components of it and how they work together. The global economy is not a directed structure but rather the result of millions of connections between national economies. Like Topsy, "it just growed."
